RUTH THOMPSON
As an artist, I’ve always been drawn to myths and the fantastic. I create original drawings and painting bringing to life the world of long ago and legendary. All my work is created with pencil, ink, charcoal, oil paints and digital programs. I’ve been a professional artist working in the fantasy art world for over 30 years. My dragons, knights and faerie paintings have been licensed for products the world over including Excalibur Hotel in Las Vegas, the Franklin Mint, Tate & Company, Hot Topic, Pacific Trading Company, Unicorn Collectibles & Barnes & Noble. Patrons have been purchasing my prints and original art at shops in 9 Renaissance Festivals, Sci/Fi Conventions, Comicons, Etsy, Deviant Art and through my own website
At each of my shows or festivals, one of my great joys is actually painting or drawing as the day goes by. Often, I’ll start a piece in the morning, and by the afternoon, patrons can see how I work and watch the image come to life. There is nothing to compare with the excitement and energy that I am infused with after spending a day having people watching me paint, asking questions, pondering the next brushstroke and sharing in the frustrations and pleasure of actual creation.
