"Between Heaven and Hell" by Sarah Richter unfolds a Gothic vision of doomed romance. A pale-skinned angel with white hair and broken wings holds on to a dark demon in a tight embrace, his body etched with markings from hell. Blood trickles down her back as they hold each other amidst a hellish landscape, red rivers of lava winding between jagged mountains. His leathery wings stretch around her as if to protect her from the cruel world. Dark, tragic and charged with sacrifice, the scene captures the tension between light and darkness, beauty and horror, heaven and hell. |
