Laurie Prindle
Laurie Prindle was born and raised in the verdant landscapes of the Green Mountains of Vermont. In 1968 when she was six years old, her grandmother, who was a talented painter herself, gave her a set of japanese watercolours. That was the beginning of her lifelong passion of creating art. Animals and particularly the big cats and birds of prey were her fascination and she wanted to be a wildlife painter when she grew up.
Laurie has been a professional artist since her teens and participated in many art shows during that time, winning several awards in the junior divisions. She then went on to attend Parsons School of Design in New York City and graduated with honors with a BFA in Communication Design in 1984. She has owned/run her own design and illustration studio now for over 30 years, specializing in the horse industry. During that time she also pursued her love of nature, painting and drawing as well, culminating in taking the jump to digital painting in 2004.
She left the Big Apple and moved to Colorado in 1987 where she now has a small ranch in the foothills of Northern Colorado. Her love of horses blossomed the first time she rode one over thirty years ago in Central Park in New York City. After moving to Colorado she bought her first Morgan horse, and Laurie and her husband have been the proud owners of five lovely Morgans over the years, with whom they have done everything from eventing, classical Spanish riding, ranch work, parades, Australian bullwhip cracking exhibitions, experiencing the majestic beauty of Colorado on horseback and more. They are her best friends and her artistic muses. Laurie’s other passion is traveling to the far reaches of the world and riding beautiful horses in exotic settings such as Africa and Australia, as well as discovering the wild and haunting beauty of especially the American Southwest. Along with horses and animals, the nature, art and cultures of the world are also her artistic inspirations.
